AppsFlyer alternative (2026) for subscription apps

By the AppRefer team. We make AppRefer, so read this as the maker's view, with sources for every competitor fact. Updated .

AppRefer is an AppsFlyer alternative for subscription apps that buy ads on Meta, Google Ads, TikTok or ChatGPT Ads and want every trial, purchase and renewal sent back to the ad that drove it (Apple Ads installs are attributed too). As of 22 October 2026, AppsFlyer's Growth plan charges $0.07 per attributed conversion after 12,000 free conversions in the first year; AppRefer charges one flat monthly plan that also includes subscription billing, support chat and analytics. AppsFlyer is the better choice if you need deep linking, fraud protection or many more ad partners.

How does AppRefer differ from AppsFlyer?

AppsFlyer is a general mobile measurement partner: attribution across a wide range of media partners, a deep linking suite (OneLink), fraud protection (Protect360) and SKAN tooling. It measures subscription revenue, net of store commissions, taxes and refunds, but none of its pages we read offer subscription billing itself.

AppRefer is built around the subscription. It runs App Store, Google Play and Stripe purchases itself (AppRefer Billing), checks each one with the store, and sends it to the ad network that brought the user. Attribution, billing, support conversations and analytics share one customer record, so the revenue next to a campaign is the revenue the stores confirmed.

How much does each cost?

AppsFlyer bills attribution per conversion; AppRefer bills one plan for attribution, billing, support and analytics together. The example apps below are the same ones our home page uses, at AppsFlyer Growth list price after the first-year welcome package.

Example appAppsFlyer Growth (attribution only)AppRefer plan (everything)
$10,000 a month revenue, 4,000 attributed installs$280$99 (Starter)
$20,000 a month, 8,000 installs$560$449 (Growth)
$50,000 a month, 20,000 installs$1,400$999 (Scale)
$100,000 a month, 40,000 installs$2,800$999 (Scale)

What that means: in its first year AppsFlyer's welcome package covers 12,000 conversions, so a small app can pay nothing for attribution until those run out. After that, the per-install price grows with every campaign, while AppRefer's plan follows the larger of your revenue or ad spend. See the full stack comparison on our home page.

When should you stay on AppsFlyer?

Stay on AppsFlyer if any of these is true. Each one is something AppRefer doesn't do today.

  • You rely on deep links that open specific content in the app (OneLink).
  • You need fraud protection for paid installs (Protect360).
  • You buy from ad networks beyond Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Apple Ads and ChatGPT Ads.
  • Your revenue isn't in-app subscriptions or purchases, for example an ad-funded game.
  • You're still inside the 12,000 free conversions of AppsFlyer's first year.
  • You need to start live today: AppRefer is on a waitlist.

When is AppRefer the better fit?

  • You run a subscription app and want ad networks to learn from purchases the stores confirmed, not from what the app reported.
  • You want trial starts held back until the trial survives a short window, so cancelled trials never reach the network (qualified trials).
  • You sell on the web with Stripe and want those purchases on the same customer record as the app installs.
  • You would rather pay one plan for attribution, subscriptions, support and analytics than four bills.

How does AppRefer attribute an install?

AppRefer tries deterministic signals first and stops at the first match: Apple AdServices for Apple Ads, then the click id, gclid or UTM values carried through the Google Play Install Referrer, then an exact single-click IP match, and only then probabilistic matching, which you can turn off. Anything left is organic. Full order and fields are in Attribution.

On iOS it follows the user's tracking choice for each install: if they decline or haven't answered, AppRefer uses only first-party methods and sends nothing to ad networks. Ads point at AppRefer tracking links, and conversions go out through each network's own API, for example Meta's Conversions API. Apple's privacy-preserving postbacks are covered in SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit.

How do you move from AppsFlyer to AppRefer?

  1. Add the AppRefer SDK (iOS, Android, Flutter or React Native) and configure it on first launch.
  2. Create a tracking link per network and campaign, and point your ads at them.
  3. Connect each ad network in AppRefer so purchases and trials are sent back, and its spend is synced.
  4. Connect your stores for AppRefer Billing, or keep RevenueCat and let AppRefer read its webhooks.

Questions

Does AppRefer have deep linking like AppsFlyer OneLink?

No. AppRefer's SDK reads its own click id from the launch URL, but there is no deep-linking product that routes people to content inside the app. If you rely on OneLink, stay on AppsFlyer for that.

Does AppRefer support SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit?

Yes. The iOS SDK sets conversion values from verified trials and purchases, and AppRefer receives and checks Apple's postback copies for both SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit.

Which ad networks does AppRefer send purchases to?

Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and ChatGPT Ads, server to server through each network's own conversions API. Apple Ads installs are attributed through Apple's AdServices, but Apple has no conversions API, so nothing is sent back to it. Ad spend from all five is synced daily for ROAS.

Is there a free plan?

No. AppRefer plans start at $49 a month, set by the larger of your monthly revenue or ad spend. AppsFlyer's Zero plan is free but, in AppsFlyer's words, not suitable for apps with paid activities.

Can I bring my AppsFlyer history into AppRefer?

No. AppRefer doesn't import AppsFlyer data, so keep your AppsFlyer reports for campaigns that ran before the switch.
